Endorsement Profiles & Placeholder Management
The June 2025 Nebula update introduces a major overhaul to Endorsement Profiles that includes powerful new tools to manage how records are handled during production. This update gives users a dynamic interface to visually build custom endorsement layouts and manage placeholder hierarchies and associated production rules. These enhancements are designed to virtually eliminate manual production workarounds often associated with complex production requirements, minimizing the risk of costly human error.
Endorsement Management
The new endorsement builder gives users a visual interface for performing endorsement branding (e.g. Bates numbering, etc.) to TIFF images and PDFs generated by Nebula during production and export operations. Common endorsements include applying confidentiality labels to headers and document identifiers in footers.
Users can now:
Add up to four lines for endorsements in the header and footer (previously, only two lines were available)
Preview endorsement placements and receive warnings if there is a danger of overlapping text
Customize font size and layout
The endorsement builder makes it much easier to ensure compliance with even the most complex production imaging requirements.
Placeholder Management
Previously, placeholder rules (e.g. ‘slipsheets’) were setup from within Image Profiles. This meant documents could not have pristine images if they were to be produced as placeholders - the placeholder was all that existed. This resulted in limitations for projects with multiple production and export requirements, especially those where the same document might be produced multiple times to different parties. Moving placeholder management to Endorsement Profiles solves that problem.
With this update, users can:
Create custom placeholders tied to subsets of documents, defined by saved searches
Create a hierarchy of rules to ensure documents that might qualify for multiple placeholders get the one placeholder that’s most important
Have different sets of placeholders to choose from without requiring re-imaging
Optionally replace extracted text with placeholder text
Optionally produce/export the native file along with the image placeholder
Create and interact with pristine images for any supported document, regardless of what downstream productions require
Consistent Productions, Greater Flexibility
Once configured, an Endorsement Profile will elegantly handle both endorsements and placeholders, making it easier to consistently apply rules across multiple productions. Further, Nebula allows for unlimited profiles to support a variety of complex projects with frequent production requirements or multiple parties.
Thanks to greater automation and flexibility, Nebula’s latest enhancements bring real-world efficiency to legal workflows - saving valuable time and reducing risk.
